Bear Lake Monster Winterfest

Bear Lake Monster Winterfest

It’s winter, and Bear Lake is gearing up for its most significant event of the year, the Bear Lake Monster Winterfest. Beginning on January 27th, with a weekend packed with activities, most events will take place at Utah Bear Lake State Park Marina. Since entrance fees to the park will be waived, consider donating to The Family Place. Funds raised from this event will go towards this non-profit. See our Event page and the Bear Lake Monster Winterfest website.

Festivities begin early Friday at 9 am in the Logan Canyon Sinks Area. Epic Recreation and Beaver Creek Lodge will generously provide fat-tire bikes, snowshoes, snowmobiles, and tubes to try out for free, an opportunity to find your new favorite winter activity. Free hot cocoa and a free shuttle will also be available from the Sunrise Resort. Did we mention all this was free? Pre-registration is available but not necessary. This event goes until 4 pm, giving you an hour to prepare for the following two events at 5 pm.

Choose between the Monster Taste of Bear Lake or the Monster Winterfest Social. Hit the Sunrise Resort and Event Center at Sunrise Hall to sample food from local restaurants. Tickets are $3. Bring the family to the Winterfest Social, where fun activities await kids of all ages.

Saturday is when the festival lights up. With activities from 6 am to 6 pm, you’ll want plenty of rest to prepare. Dip net for the Bonneville Cisco or just show up to eat some. A free breakfast is available, along with free entry into the fishing tournament. There will be prizes for both kids and adults. Next on the schedule is the Monster 5K Run/Walk. The race begins at 10 am at the State Park Marina but get there early to pick up your pre-race packet. Don’t miss the Monster Chili Cook-off, Cardboard Boat Regatta, food trucks, and of course, the Monster Plunge. Costumes are highly encouraged as there will be a parade, judging of the costumes, and a live stream on Facebook of the Plunge.

Close down a day of frosty fun at the Monster Disco Dance and Awards Ceremony. Here winners will be crowned from the Cisco Disco Tournament, Chili Cook-off, Cardboard Regatta, Plunge, and the 5K.

What better way to celebrate a weekend of fun than a pancake breakfast the following Sunday at Cody’s Gastro Garage in Garden City? All-you-can-eat pancakes with eggs and bacon will be served. Sign us up! More information and complete schedules for all the events can be found here
