The National Oregon/California Trail Center
Explore the stories and adventures of emigrants who traveled the Oregon Trail. Travel back to 1849. Hear the story of Peg Leg Smith and his trading post. Visit with pioneers in their wagon train encampment at the Clover Creek grazing area. Hear their story. Learn about their dream. The original Oregon Trail runs through the northeast section of Bear Lake County and follows the Bear River and Highway 30 North through Montpelier and the west side of Georgetown. Some of the wagon ruts can still be seen.

  • SUMMER HOURS - Open 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM daily between May 1st and Labor Day weekend
  • SEPTEMBER HOURS - Monday thru Saturday 10 AM - 3 PM with the last tour at 2 PM, Closed Sundays
  • WINTER HOURS - by reservation only between October 1st thru May 1st.

    Paris Historical Musum
    The museum displays local history artifacts and is located directly across the street from the Paris LDS Tabernacle in Paris, Idaho. Mid-town on west side of U.S. Highway 89, Paris, Idaho • Open: Memorial Day to Labor Day, 9:30 am to 5 pm.Paris Tabernacle

    Paris Tabernacle
    The historic Paris LDS Tabernacle in Paris, Idaho was completed by Mormon pioneers in 1889. It was designed by Don Carlos Young, and is an impressive building made of red sandstone quarried from Indian Creek on the east side of Bear Lake. Tours are conducted during the summer, with frequent organ recitals.

    Rails & Trails Museum
    Located in the lower level of The National Oregon/California Trail Center, the museum highlights Bear Lake county history. Artifacts and exhibits have been collected by the Bear Lake County Historical Society and local chapters of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. The museum contains early pioneer relics, historic photographs, and railroad artifacts.
